Melissa completed her formal photography training at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, NH, and the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, MT.
Prior to her career as a photographer, Melissa completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Tennessee in Recreation and Leisure Studies, and worked nearly 7 years as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with children with multiple disabilities. She also had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in two theater productions as a Marionette Puppeteer with a rare and unique opera theater company in New England. In the summer of 2007 she was a Cook and Recipe Tester/Developer on an organic guest farm in northern California. While in California, she also completed a food styling workshop to enhance her skill and understanding of the food photography industry.
In the summer of 2008, Melissa spent a few months traveling through Europe, where she was inspired to write several travel stories and photo document various events.
Currently, Melissa is working on documentary, travel, food, and fine art photography. Her images have been published in the Boston Globe Web Addition, The Rocky Mountain School of Photography 2007 course catalog, Intuitive Teachings Parent Guide, Taste of New England, Artangelo, and Louisville Magazine. She continues to freelance for Louisville Magazine, and is a freelance writer and photographer for Freshlife and Today's Woman magazines. Melissa is a new member of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals). She continues to develop and test recipes and is working toward earning her CCP (Certified Culinary Professional) certification.
Melissa, along with her best friend Jennifer, is also developing a line of inspirational clothing soon to be available for purchase.
